Daly Middle School honored for fourth consecutive Knowledge Bowl championship

The Lowell School Committee opened its April meeting by honoring Daly Middle School as the 2025 Knowledge Bowl champions, marking the first four-peat in the event's recent history.
Rebecca Duda, coordinator of special programs, introduced the recognition and thanked volunteers and staff who supported the Knowledge Bowl. Coaches Alejandro Bonilla and Karen Miranda credited the students' self-driven preparation, long practice hours and competitive spirit for sustaining success. "They continuously push the bar higher and higher," Bonilla said.
Students from Daly took turns describing the season. Elliot Kolakowski spoke about feeling included and supported by teammates and staff; Munidar Khoi and other students recounted long study sessions, buzzer practice and the thrill of the final match. Team captain Nathan Ong called the achievement a team effort and reflected on how practice and leadership propelled their historic run.
Committee members, including Mayor O'Rourke and the superintendent, praised the students and coaches for academic achievement and community representation. The committee invited the students, coaches, and principal to be recognized and encouraged continued participation.
The ceremony concluded with photos and brief remarks from committee members celebrating the team. No formal action was required.
