Norwalk City’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted to approve the preliminary plat for Blooming Heights Plat 5 at its Jan. 26 meeting, clearing the way for a 17-lot single-family subdivision on nearly 15 acres in the western part of the city.
Elliot, a city planning staff member, told the commission the site had been rezoned last year from agricultural reserve to R-1-60 (single-family) and that the preliminary plat includes an on-plat detention basin intended to manage stormwater before it outfalls to the existing natural drainage near Middle Creek. "So, 17 lots in total," Elliot said while outlining grading and stormwater measures; staff noted easements are required to accommodate an existing sewer in the area.
