During the meeting, staff reported a batch of certificates issued administratively or by the chair covering minor repairs and replacements across several conservation districts in Iowa City. Examples staff cited included window and trim repairs at 1527 Muscatine Avenue; siding and step repairs at a small barn on East College Street; porch and shingle work on multiple Victorian and Spanish-style houses; and a pocket window replacement noted on Grant Street. Staff also recounted a decision to allow period-appropriate green shingles on a 1930s house after research showed historic precedent.
Staff asked the commission to approve the minutes from Nov. 20, 2025 with corrections. The chair and staff described editorial fixes (spelling of "Peter Carell," tense and phrasing adjustments, and clarifications on dates and steps). Commissioner Russell moved to adopt the minutes as corrected; Wagner seconded. The commission voted "Aye" and the minutes were approved as amended.
Commissioners briefly discussed commission business and logistics for the annual preservation awards. Staff said they would circulate a meeting time in early January to decide awardees and reminded members the awards event is scheduled for March 25. No formal action beyond scheduling direction was recorded.
The meeting then adjourned.
