Councilor Mazahir Sali was the first nominee and used her time to make a case for “experienced, steady leadership that is deeply rooted in the community” and for continuing outreach to residents who do not typically participate in local government. “I am putting my name forward for mayor because I believe this moment called for experienced, steady leadership that is deeply rooted in the community,” Sali said during her remarks.
