Council considered a resolution to authorize sale of city-owned property at 405 7th Avenue South to Mike Hill for $10,000, but postponed the matter to a future meeting after members raised questions about market value and potential conditions on a discounted sale.
Council member Davis moved to adopt the resolution to sell the property to Mike Hill; the motion was seconded. Several council members and staff discussed prior efforts to lease the site for parking, a nearby billboard and demolition costs for an adjacent building that could affect development potential. One council member suggested tying conditions to a discounted sale if the council chose to proceed.
After discussion, Council member (speaker identified as the mover to table) moved to postpone the resolution to a date certain, Dec. 9, 2025; the motion passed on roll call with six yes votes and one no (Council member Davis opposed). City staff noted that if sale terms were to change substantially the council would need to reopen public hearing procedures.
The tabling leaves the sale unresolved; staff was directed to return with options and any recommended conditions for a discounted sale at the Dec. 9 meeting.
