Council discussion noted the project is proposed for the rail park and cited figures in the application showing about 62 high‑quality jobs (compared with earlier figures of 42) and a project investment noted in discussion as moving toward the mid‑hundreds of millions of dollars. Staff said abatement schedules and incentives will be governed by state rules and that the project will require public infrastructure investments such as roads and rail at the rail park.
Council members voiced support and approved the resolution by roll call. The resolution does not itself grant tax abatement or funding; it registers the city’s support for the company’s IEDA application, a step required for the state incentive process.
City staff said they expect further IEDA action later in the month and that abatement details, if any, will be considered under state rules and future council approvals for local infrastructure and incentives.
