Homer Glen board adopts tax levy, approves IUOE Local 150 contract after attorney form review

On Nov. 18 the Village of Homer Glen board adopted the 2024 tax levy ordinance for fiscal year 05/01/2024–04/30/2025 and approved a collective bargaining agreement with International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150.
Trustees debated a procedural item on the levy packet — language on the cover page stating the ordinance was "published in pamphlet form by" a law firm appeared to be incorrect. Village Attorney Mike Pasquinelli said the village should remove the firm’s name from the pamphlet language; trustees moved to strike that language and the amendment carried by roll call. Trustees also discussed that some levy receipts will be recorded as receivables and deferred revenue in accounting because funds will be collected in the following fiscal year.
Separately, the board ratified Resolution No. 204-18 approving a collective bargaining agreement with IUOE Local 150 providing labor terms from May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2026. Trustees thanked staff and the village attorneys for lengthy negotiations. Trustee Stylin identified one small clarifying item in the draft (compensatory time language) and the board authorized the attorney to make form-only clarifying changes prior to final publication.
Both measures passed by roll call vote. Trustees said they expect additional budget and procurement discussions tied to the public works and road-district transition in future meetings.
