Evanston Police Department honored for statewide ILEAP reaccreditation at council meeting

The mayor and city staff congratulated officers and singled out Commander Elizabeth Glenn and Sergeant Daniel Keeler for leading the department’s effort.
Eric Barton, representing the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, congratulated Evanston PD and described ILEAP as a statewide accreditation process. "Evanston PD has achieved tier 2, which means you meet or exceed 181 important standards," Barton told the council and audience. He noted reaccreditation confirms alignment of policies, training and operations with professional standards.
Corporate counsel Alice Ruggie and Deputy Chief Melissa Secluti also thanked the officers and the chief, and a plaque was presented in recognition of the accomplishment. City officials described the reaccreditation as a milestone for transparency, accountability and continuous improvement in policing practices.
