At the Jan. 26 Medina City Council meeting, resident John White of Manchester Court described repeated dangerous driving behavior in the downtown square and asked council to increase enforcement.
"When they block the intersection and the light's red for them now, take a license plate. Send them a ticket," White said during public comment, urging officers to ticket drivers who block intersections, run red lights or ignore crosswalk signals. He said these behaviors regularly obstruct truck turns and create hazards for pedestrians and schoolchildren.
Councilmembers acknowledged the complaint. Councilmember Ed Isabella reiterated an upcoming Streets & Sidewalks committee meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. on Feb. 9 and invited White to share his observations there so staff and council can consider traffic enforcement or operational changes on the square.
What happens next: Council scheduled or referenced the Streets & Sidewalks committee meeting to review streets and potential traffic measures; no formal enforcement directive was recorded during the meeting.
