Tipton Cardinals honored on Senate floor; senators announce volunteer event

Senators paused legislative business to introduce and congratulate the Tipton Cardinals following the team’s state championship. Senator Cole told the Senate the Cardinals defeated Putnam County High School, 39–14, and named team standouts including offensive player of the year Tyler Riviera and defensive player of the year Sam Duke. Cole noted it was the program’s first state championship in the 66-year history of the program and asked colleagues to welcome the players and coaches to the chamber.
Earlier in the session multiple senators introduced interns from the University of Missouri: Ethan Moe, noted as pursuing a degree in health sciences and preparing to begin a master's in health administration, and Faith Glasgow, studying political science and psychology. Another intern, Addie Tomi, was also introduced.
Senator Platt repeated an announcement inviting members to join Missouri Farmers Care for a meal-packaging event on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. in the 1st Floor Rotunda, describing the activity as a statewide volunteer effort to package meals for those in need. The Senate adjourned following routine business; no votes on substantive policy matters were recorded alongside the recognitions and announcements.
