Board receives and files Riverside County annual mitigation fee report
Summary
County staff presented the fiscal year 2024–25 mitigation fee report showing $9.1 million in fees collected and $6.8 million in expenditures, and the board received and filed the report with a unanimous vote.
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors opened a public hearing Dec. 9 to receive the annual mitigation fee report required by the Mitigation Fee Act (presented in the meeting as California Government Code section 66000). Don Kent, from the executive office, told the board that the mitigation fee program supports capital projects in unincorporated areas, including traffic signals, fire stations, parks, libraries and trails.
Kent reported totals for the fiscal year: $9,100,000 in fees collected, $6,800,000 in project expenditures, and more than $50,500,000 committed to board‑approved projects (figures as stated in the presented report). The Desert Valley Builders Association and the Building Industry Association of Southern California reviewed and provided support letters for the filing.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. The board received and filed the report and approved the staff recommendation 5–0.
Next steps: staff will continue to track project commitments and expenditures under the mitigation-fee program and report back as required by statute.
