Council authorizes temporary lease for Bluebird Coffee to use Springdale commercial kitchen

The Andalusia City Council voted to authorize the mayor to approve a lease with Bluebird Coffee of Andalusia LLC allowing the business to use the Carriage House commercial kitchen at Springdale for additional production capacity.
City Clerk/Administrator (Speaker 5) told the council Bluebird — a member of the Capital Improvement Cooperative District — has increased production needs for items such as cheesecakes and that the Springdale kitchen is rarely used by the public. The proposed lease is a two-year agreement that can be renewed; the clerk described the monthly rental as $700 and said either party may terminate the contract with 30 days’ written notice.
Council member (Speaker 6) moved to authorize the mayor to approve the agreement; Councilman Craig (Speaker 2) seconded the motion and the council approved it by voice/hand vote. The clerk said the arrangement is intended to be temporary while Bluebird seeks more permanent space and that the city's normal public rentals of Springdale may occasionally interrupt production activities.
