County counsel reports closed‑session settlements and contingency‑fee payments

Ziegler also reported that the board authorized contingency‑fee payments to the Robins Kaplan law firm for its work on opioid litigation. Two Robins Kaplan invoices were specified on the record: AC91724 in the amount of $306,939.81 (approximately 15% contingency) and AC128924 in the amount of $269,111.05, with the board directing that the healthcare services agency holding settlement funds process those payments.
Ziegler reminded the board that the earlier authorization of these contingency payments had occurred on a prior vote and that the amounts are to be paid from settlement funds being held by the Healthcare Services Agency.
