Alisa Marquez was sworn in as Alameda County supervisor for District 2 during the Board of Supervisors meeting on Jan. 14. Susie Collazo administered the oath; Marquez repeated the oath and then addressed the board, staff and guests about priorities for her term.
"I, Alisa Marquez, do solemnly swear," Marquez said while taking the oath of office. In remarks that followed she highlighted the board’s recent actions to support first responders and public health, citing a $20,000,000 allocation for a new county fire training center, approval of two new fire stations and an increase in staffing including six relief firefighters.
Marquez also pointed to work to preserve Saint Rose Hospital, calling its continued operation and a new subacute unit "a major victory" for South Hayward residents. She said her office awarded 100 community grants across District 2 last year and emphasized a human‑centered approach to homelessness and juvenile justice, noting that 60% of counted unsheltered residents reported a disability in the most recent point‑in‑time survey and nearly one‑third had experienced domestic violence.
Marquez closed by thanking community partners, staff and county departments and inviting attendees to a reception following the ceremony.
