Holly Springs Tree Commission elects 2026 officers, fills committee chairs

Commission members took a group oath affirming support for the Charter of Holly Springs and state and federal constitutions, led by a member identified in the transcript as Speaker 5; Speaker 5 said, “I, and state your name. Solemnly affirm that I will faithfully perform the duties of the Holly Springs Tree Commission to which I’ve been appointed, and that I will support and defend the charter of the city of Holly Springs as well as the constitution and laws of the state of Georgia and The United States Of America.”
During the elections, nominations and seconds were made by commission members and approved by voice vote. The commission finalized these officer roles: Matt was confirmed as chair; Colleen as vice chair; Bridget as secretary; and Shannon as treasurer. Committee leadership was also set: Bridget will continue as Tree City USA chair with Shannon as co-chair; Matt and Bridget will lead Arbor Day (Matt as chair, Bridget as co-chair); Shannon was named chair of the Great American Cleanup Committee with Matt as co-chair; Colleen and Bridget will remain chair and co-chair of the Beautification Committee, respectively; and Shannon will chair the Yard of the Month committee. Nomination motions and seconds for each post were recorded in the meeting and approved by voice vote.
The commission approved the minutes of Nov. 18, 2025, with no corrections reported. The treasurer’s report covered October and November. Speaker 2 reported an Oct. opening balance of $42,376.43, withdrawals totaling $150 and an Oct. ending balance of $42,226.43. For November Speaker 2 reported opening balance $42,226.43, withdrawals totaling $573.28 (one for a memorial tree and another for committee expenses) and an ending balance of $41,653.15.
A motion to accept both the October and November treasurer’s reports was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote. The meeting concluded after a final call for additional business and a motion to adjourn.
