Commissioners then discussed ideas for Earth Day 2026, set for April 22, 2026, including community plantings, neighborhood cleanups and a possible shred-and-recycle van. Speaker 3 volunteered to research what other towns do and return with concrete proposals.
Rather than adopt a plan at the Sept. 9 meeting, the commission voted to table Earth Day planning for one month to allow time for idea gathering and coordination with other local events. Members asked the researcher to include budget estimates, potential partners and scheduling options in the follow-up report.
