Associate Executive Director Steffenson walked the board through the statutory checklist required for certification, including adoption of required policies, submission of annual calendars, facilities or inspection status (where applicable), staffing/third-party arrangements, enrollment benchmarks, student-data-system connectivity to the state, functional accounting systems, debt-burden ratios (where applicable), and compliance with legal preoperational requirements.
Elevated Charter School (an online model), American Principles Academy and Wallace Stegner Academy each met the staff checklist (counts and systems verification were included in staff slides). Member Cisneros moved and Member Spiker seconded the motion to certify the three LEAs as ready to open; the board approved the certifications unanimously and instructed staff to notify the superintendent.
Staff clarified that one statutory change removed the authorizer’s prior obligation to review facility contracts; the board noted that change and relied on the other parts of the checklist for certification.
