The Holly Springs mayor and council on July 7 approved two job-description changes that separate the assistant city clerk role from records management duties.
Staff presented an amended assistant city clerk description making that position responsible for maintaining official city records, supporting public meeting functions and providing HR and risk-management support; the role was described as full-time, nonexempt and classified as grade 16 in the city's pay plan.
The new records manager position was described as a full-time, nonexempt role (grade 14) that would oversee development and maintenance of a records management program, ensure compliance with the Georgia Open Records Act and the state retention schedule, and support disposition and filing processes citywide. Staff said the position would provide central oversight while police department records would continue to be handled operationally by PD staff.
Council approved both changes unanimously, and staff indicated the roles will move forward through the city’s HR processes for recruitment and classification.
