Heath staff report progress on playground, well drilling and Meadowview Bridge repair

Parks and Public Works staff updated the Heath Park Board on Nov. 17 about construction and capital projects related to parks and city infrastructure.

Mr. Creed reported that sidewalks around the playground have been poured, backstop posts for the baseball field are in place and playground equipment installation is complete, with grading underway for a planned turf area. "The playground equipment has been installed and they're doing the grading for the fiber field that's gonna go in around it," he said.

Creed also described a well‑drilling operation tied to the Water Bridge plant and other sites: a drilling rig is working on a pilot hole and crews were about 500 feet down, with the pilot hole expected to be finished by the end of the month. "They expect to be finished with the pilot hole by the end of this month," he said, and staff will log results to determine water characteristics and depth.

On other CIPs, staff said design is underway for two Public Safety stations (30 and 31), design work continues for additional wells and a water tower, and Hubbard Drive work was awarded to Apple Paving at a bid below initial estimates. Creed reported that Meadowview Bridge had deteriorated and crews replaced degraded culverts and poured new box‑culvert walls; he said crews may finish by Dec. 1.

A board member asked about estimated well depth; staff said the bid target was about 3,480 feet and that unit‑price adjustments would apply if depth varies. No formal actions were taken on CIP items during the meeting.
