The Heath Economic Development Corporation on Aug. 28 elected new leadership and completed routine organizational business.
At the start of the meeting an EDC member nominated Michael Zelenskis for president; the board recorded a motion (moved by Doug and seconded by Miles) and approved the appointment by voice vote. The board then moved to fill the vice president post, approving Miles after a motion and second. Later nominations resulted in Douglas (Doug) being appointed both secretary and treasurer; the board noted that some secretarial duties are carried out by Suzanne, the city community liaison, who "vigorously" took notes during the meeting.
Board members discussed whether secretary and treasurer roles had historically been combined. The chairman said the city of Heath manages many secretarial functions under the city charter, but the EDC bylaws require the organization to name officers. Each appointment was approved by voice vote with no recorded roll-call tallies in the transcript.
The newly seated officers were welcomed; the chair thanked members for their willingness to serve and said the appointments were made to ensure legal compliance and continuity of EDC operations.
The meeting then recessed into an executive session; no reportable action from that session was announced when the board returned to open session.
