Heath EDC installs Bart Davenport as vice president

Board President opened the Heath Economic Development Corporation and NBC board meeting on Jan. 20 by introducing Bart Davenport as the board’s newest member and then nominated him for the vacant vice president position. Davenport, who said he has lived in the area since the 1980s and has experience in wholesale jewelry, safes manufacturing, oil and gas, land development and international mining, said he was "glad to be here and hope I can offer some help to you guys."
After a brief discussion about the time commitments for the vice president role, Board President formally nominated Davenport for vice president. Mr. Lane seconded the nomination. The board voted in favor with no opposition and the motion carried, making Davenport the board’s vice president.
The vote followed the president’s earlier remarks thanking departing member Miles Hunter for his service to the EDC and noting Hunter’s role in prior land acquisitions and the 1880 project. The board also approved the minutes of the Dec. 11, 2025 special-called meeting in an earlier, unanimous procedural vote.
The vice president role will include stepping in for the president when needed, participating in subcommittees and helping with RFP reviews. The board did not record a roll-call tally for the vice president vote beyond the chair’s call for and declaration of the motion carrying.
