Summary
The Nutley Board of Education approved an addendum resolution authorizing an application to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for roughly $75,000 to renovate the athletic field known as 'High 5 Hill' at Radcliffe School; the submission is contingent on board-attorney approval and will not cost the district to apply.
The Nutley Board of Education voted Jan. 6 to authorize staff to apply for a New Jersey Department of Community Affairs grant of approximately $75,000 to renovate the athletic field known as "High 5 Hill" at Radcliffe School.
Business administrator Mister Davida read the addendum and told the board the grant deadline was Feb. 13 and the application would not require district funds to submit. "It's not gonna cost the district any money," he said, and added the board would review materials before submission and that award amounts could be lesser or greater than the stated approximate amount.
The resolution as read states the board "desires to apply for and obtain a grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for approximately $75,000 to carry out a project to renovate the athletic field known as High 5 Hill, which is currently in poor condition and presents several hazards," and authorizes the execution of any subsequent grant agreement if awarded.
Board members completed a roll-call vote after the motion and second; the motion passed. The board noted the submission would be contingent on review by the board attorney and on receipt of any fully executed grant agreement before expenditures would be authorized.
Next steps: staff will prepare the application for submission by Feb. 13, subject to attorney review, and the board will review the grant agreement if an award is offered.
