Board approves bluff-stabilization permit and plats, and raises county well-permit fee to cover state increase

Blue Earth County commissioners unanimously approved several planning and zoning items and a county fee change on June 24.
Planning staff presented PC 37-24, an interim use permit for a bluff-stabilization and reconstruction project by applicants Shannon and Katie Cohen at 22374 Lakeview Hills Road in the Madison Lake shoreland. The planning commission had recommended approval; no public comment was received and the board adopted the resolution to grant the interim use permit.
The board then approved two plat-related items: PC 14-25 (Bornicki second edition final plat, three lots and two outlots in Luray Township) and PC 15-25 (registered land survey no. 179, three tracts). Both had planning commission approval and no public comment.
Staff reported the Minnesota Department of Health notified counties that state core function fees for well work will increase effective July 1. To cover the state increase passed through the delegated well program, property and environmental resources staff proposed a mid-year adjustment to the county fee schedule: increase the new well permit fee from $300 to $330 and leave county well-ceiling fees unchanged (staff said the permit fee increase will cover associated state well-ceiling fees). Commissioners moved and approved the fee adjustment on a voice vote.
Next steps: staff will implement the updated fee schedule effective July 1 and record the planning resolutions in county records.
