Board extends jail health contract with ACH to Dec. 31 while exploring alternatives

Sheriff Bridal presented a request to renew the county's contract with ACH for correctional health services on a short‑term basis. He told the board that the existing contract year normally runs Aug. 1 to July 31, but because staff are exploring alternate general health‑care vendors the sheriff asked the board to authorize a renewal only through Dec. 31, 2025 so the county can evaluate options.
Sheriff Bridal said the contract contains a modest increase in cost and that the county will alter a past practice of prepaying nurses for holiday shifts; under the proposed arrangement the county will pay only for shifts actually worked rather than advance the pay. Board members thanked staff for work on the contract and the board approved the motion to renew through Dec. 31.
The contract renewal was approved by voice vote recorded in the minutes. County staff indicated they would finalize signatures and return the executed contract to the sheriff's office.
