Sterets said Motherlode Job Training operates four centers, including a recently moved Calaveras Center at 560 Mountain Ranch Road. She described a suite of services—job fairs, on‑site recruitment support, job postings in the CalJOBS system and online outreach—and named Skill Up (an online training platform) as a free resource with thousands of modules.
On employer incentives, Sterets said the program can subsidize on‑the‑job training wages to help offset early costs for employers, describing an example level of support of up to about 75% of wages for an initial training period. She highlighted the Greater Sierra Forestry Corps cohorts (10–15 participants per cohort) and partnerships with Columbia College and Valley Build to prepare workers for forestry, logging and other trades. Sterets also noted programs that train healthcare workers (phlebotomy, medical assisting) and encouraged local employers to offer internships and on‑the‑job opportunities where the program can provide wage support.
She closed by saying Motherlode Job Training is working to reconnect local talent with employers and encouraging attendees to use the CalJOBS postings, Skill Up platform and to contact the relocated Calaveras center for services.
