The Santaquin City Planning Commission on Jan. 27 voted unanimously to recommend the City Council adopt a code amendment that requires one parking space for internal accessory dwelling units (ADUs), replacing the previous two-space requirement.
Staff noted the amendment changes the code section on ADU parking (10.16.adu) from requiring two spaces to requiring one for internal ADUs, a change driven by state code. Commissioners acknowledged the trade-off between reducing parking requirements and preventing spillover parking into neighborhoods but said the change is required for compliance.
Commissioner Mook moved to recommend approval; Commissioner Nixon seconded. The motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote and will be forwarded to the City Council.
