Summary
The Grantsville Planning and Zoning Commission approved an access and maintenance easement allowing city access to utilities and a private lane in the Cloward Court subdivision and clarified maintenance responsibilities for private utilities.
The Grantsville Planning and Zoning Commission on Jan. 6 approved an access and maintenance easement for Cloward Court Subdivision that gives the city access to a private lane and the utilities located within it.
Staff explained the agreement covers a private access lane and a private utility easement where public water, sewer and fire-suppression infrastructure have already been installed. The document, drafted by the city attorney, specifies who is responsible for maintenance and repairs of private lines and allows city staff to read utility meters and maintain hydrants.
An alternate commissioner participating remotely, Aubrey Durant, confirmed she could hear and had no questions before commissioners voted to approve the agreement as presented.
The approval was a voice vote; the motion was made and seconded and passed with the remote alternate indicating assent. The agreement clarifies that the property owner retains responsibility for private sewer and water lines, while the city retains access rights to serve and inspect public infrastructure within the easement.
The commission closed the related public hearing with no additional public comment.
The commission took no additional action beyond approving the easement during the Jan. 6 meeting.
