The city released a request for qualifications for street‑sweeping services, staff told the Finance Committee Jan. 26, as the current contract with Central Valley Sweeping — originally a five‑year contract from 2016 and extended in 2021 — is due to expire in February 2026.
Member Alexander Henderson said the RFQ seeks competitive proposals for residential biweekly sweeping, weekly downtown sweeping, alley sweeps twice a year (paved alleys only), fall leaf collection, event‑specific sweeps for downtown events (car show, Swedish Festival, Santa Lucia parade), collection and disposal of sweeping refuse, and fixed pricing for emergency cleanups. He noted Mid Valley Disposal, the city's solid‑waste contractor, is expected to submit a proposal.
Henderson told the committee that the FY26 budget includes $306,000 for sweeping services. The presentation was informational; staff will return with recommendations after proposals are received and evaluated.
