Board approves accounts payable addendum, consent agenda, new return‑to‑work policy and personnel items

The Monongalia County Board of Education voted Jan. 27 to approve an accounts payable addendum, a consent agenda of routine items, the adoption of new Policy 8442.011 (Return to Work), and personnel actions.

The superintendent recommended approval of the accounts payable addendum. Because the president had a business relationship with one vendor, he excused himself from that matter and asked the vice president to preside for the item; a board member moved, a second was offered and the board voted in favor.

For the consent agenda, the superintendent outlined items that included expenditures exceeding $3,000; supplements and transfers; payroll and accounts payable; field experiences; a Marshall University waiver of fees for 2025; a University of Phoenix affiliation agreement; an education services agreement; minutes from the Jan. 13 meeting; and Early Head Start and Head Start December reports. A motion to approve the entire consent agenda was moved, seconded and carried.

On policy, the board took a second reading and adopted a new policy identified as Policy 8442.011, "Return to Work." The superintendent recommended adoption, a member moved, another seconded and the board approved the policy.

Personnel actions were also approved. The superintendent presented the personnel list for approval and noted there were no new positions; the board moved and approved the list. The personnel list addendum was likewise presented as having no changes and was approved.
