Planning staff outlines annual report and ordinance timeline; adoption targeted for June

Planning staff told the Fraser Zoning Board of Appeals on Jan. 15 that the annual planning commission and zoning report — required by state planning law — summarizes last year’s activity, lists who served on commissions and outlines a 2026 work plan.
Staff said the report compiles cases reviewed in the past year, zoning-administration metrics and proposed focus areas for 2026. The planning staff invited the Zoning Board of Appeals to propose additions or corrections before the report is submitted to the town council.
Board members asked about a sidewalk master plan referenced in the report; staff said sidewalk construction will proceed only to the extent that grant money becomes available and that a consultant (AEW) is managing the Mulvey grant process. Staff emphasized that the town’s role is to coordinate but that AEW is running the specific grant project.
On ordinance changes, planning staff said the schedule under discussion aims to introduce recommended ordinance updates to council in March or April, with a target adoption in June 2026, but staff called the schedule optimistic and dependent on council availability and review workload.
Planning staff also noted administrative items: the Zoning Board of Appeals’ historical practice of combining its annual summary with the planning commission’s report and the importance of confirming language before submission to council.
