Fraser clerk reports clean canvass, flags high permanent absentee non-return rate

The clerk said the total ballots counted equaled 1,657, with roughly 716 cast in-person and the remainder by absentee voting. The clerk noted an unusually large number of permanent absentee (AV) ballots that were not returned ("over 1,400") and said that while the state and some clerks reported similar patterns, the city made direct outreach by phone and email to voters with missing signatures to allow curing where possible. The clerk said the canvass was clean, everything balanced, and county certification was complete.
The clerk also noted about 12,120 registered voters on the rolls as of Election Day and explained that ballot curing procedures and AV list management are continuing concerns for election administration.
Council members thanked election staff and poll workers for a well-run election.
