Shipman said the committee, established in 2000, had previously reduced membership when volunteer interest waned but recently has seen increased applications. The resolution permits flexibility so the committee may operate with fewer than 14 members if necessary. Commissioners described the change as a response to growing community interest in volunteer service and approved the resolution on roll call.
The change is intended to broaden resident participation and expand the committee’s capacity to support downtown and community projects.
