Deputy fire chief details storm response after winter event; town readies for more snow

Deputy Chief Timothy Dimosi gave the Select Board an operational summary of the recent winter storm, describing variable snowfall (about 8–14 inches) and gusts up to roughly 50 miles per hour that produced blizzard-like conditions in places. He said the Fire Department handled 17 storm-related calls including medical transports and that the Police Department logged 43 calls for service; town dispatch processed over 571 calls during the period.
Dimosi credited DPW crews and contractors with clearing more than 90 miles of roads and other public ways, including 35 miles of bike path and several miles of sidewalks, downtown areas and public lots. He said equipment ran for extended operational periods and that the town implemented an elderly callback program to check on vulnerable residents. Dimosi said the town would prepare for another potential storm the coming weekend and that staff would meet with the National Weather Service and key stakeholders to coordinate updates.
