The Downey City Council approved the consent calendar after members discussed and cleared most items. Council Member Pemberton highlighted several items of interest: procurement and installation of five Phase‑3 fast charging electric‑vehicle stations at the Civic Center (design, procurement and installation), replacement HVAC units at McCacken Gym to replace 20‑year‑old equipment, and a repaving program for alleys in multiple neighborhoods. The council also acknowledged a four‑year memorandum of understanding with the Downey Firemen's Association; funding for the MOU will come from measures SD and the general fund, as noted by council.
Council Member Sosa pulled item 12 for separate discussion and staff pulled item 11; where items were interdependent they were tabled for later consideration. The remaining consent calendar items were approved with one council member and the mayor pro tem absent for recorded votes.
