Wasilla commissioners seek review of recent permits and potential water/sewer impacts

Commissioner Brown said he noticed many permits approved in December and asked whether staff was tracking the aggregated impact on water and sewer infrastructure. "I see a lot of permits are being approved... I'm just concerned that we don't get ahead or behind the curve on... our water and sewer," he said. The city planner responded that Public Works reviews permits and agreed to follow up with the appropriate staff and report back to the commission.
Commissioner Landgill asked the chair to request a report on the status of conditional use permits approved in 2025 to determine whether conditions have been met and whether any problems have arisen. The planner agreed to prepare a response and said staff would check whether any CUPs have been flagged; commissioners suggested inviting Public Works staff (named in the record as Eric Shaw or Robert) to a future meeting to address sewer capacity.
The exchange did not include technical analysis or new data; the planner committed to follow up and to bring information on CUP compliance and any flagged permit issues to a future meeting. The commission did not take formal action on infrastructure policy during the meeting but asked staff to report back.
