Forsyth County budget briefing: $115,520.12 state adoption incentive recommended for Social Services

Kyle Wolf, Forsyth County budget director, briefed commissioners that the county has received state adoption-promotion incentive funds totaling $115,520.12 to be appropriated in the FY26 budget to the Department of Social Services.
Wolf said the payments are based on the number of finalized adoptions in the fiscal year and are restricted for the purpose of promoting and expanding adoption programs in the county. “It is to be used to enhance and expand adoption programs,” Wolf said.
Why it matters: The funds provide a modest, restricted source for county child-welfare services; how the county allocates the dollars within DSS will be determined in the Jan. 29 budget-ordinance amendment process.
What’s next: The Jan. 27 briefing presented the amount; commissioners will consider the appropriation as an amendment to the Fiscal Year 26 budget ordinance at the Jan. 29 meeting. No vote was recorded during the briefing.
