The Natchitoches Parish Council voted to amend the 2024 budget to add Fund 242 — labeled the Patrick Road fund — and approved an amendment Treasurer Julie Lockhart described on the record as "2,700,000.0." The introduction and subsequent roll-call approval were part of a motion to add capital funding for road work.
Lockhart, the parish treasurer, told the council members they had received the standard check register and budget comparisons, and noted that property-tax receipts that drive major funds do not arrive until November and December. She said the amendment would be coordinated with other capital requests and presented in a timely way to match the parish’s capital-outlay planning.
Council members moved and seconded the budget amendment; roll-call votes recorded "Yes" from Mister Allen, Mister Cheatwood, Mister Brexen, Mister Holmes and Mister Carey, and the motion passed. The council also agreed to consolidate capital-outlay requests for the next submission cycle so road projects can be considered together.
The council’s adoption of the Patrick Road fund sets aside a dedicated funding line for forthcoming road work and capital-outlay budgeting. Parish staff said further specifications (typical-section sheets showing width and surface type) will be provided so members know exactly what projects will be funded before contracts are let.
