Senator introduces Don Schneider bridge designation and golf-cart sidewalk bill

Senator Clamp formally introduced two bills at the committee session. The first, Bill 26 RS 2816, is "an act concerning roads and highways" to designate a bridge on I-135 in Sedgwick County as the Don Schneider Memorial Bridge. The chair asked for questions or objections; none were raised and the bill was introduced.
Senator Clamp then introduced Bill 26 RS 2567 "on behalf of leadership," an act amending KSA 8-1575 pertaining to motor vehicles in certain classes of cities and repealing the existing section. During follow-up, another senator asked where golf carts would be allowed to travel under the proposal. Senator Clamp replied, "If you're within a mile of a golf course, you can drive up on the sidewalks to, traverse." The committee recorded no objections and the bill was introduced.
Both bills were entered into the committee record without recorded opposition during this session. The department and staff later moved to the KDOT presentation, and the committee asked staff to provide written follow-up on the budget material.
