The transfer reallocates specific line items: $500 for office supplies, $500 for uniforms, $3,000 for a gas mower, $8,000 for building supplies and $10,000 for janitorial supplies. The motion to approve the administrative transfer passed by voice vote (7-0).
During the salary-ordinance discussion the council read a referenced ordinance (transcribed as "salary ordinance 01062025") to amend the county’s salary schedule. Staff explained a clerical payroll overlap in the assessor’s office: a part-time worker was moved to full-time on Jan. 1 but the salary ordinance did not yet include the appropriate part-time category for the overlapping pay period. The council approved the ordinance amendment; the motion was moved and seconded and the recorded outcome showed one abstention with the final tally recorded as 6 yes, 0 no, 1 abstain.
The council also heard from the county sheriff (identified in the transcript as Travis), who described a Dec. 21 incident in which a deputy directing traffic damaged a motorist’s windshield. "We thought it would be prudent to replace that as opposed to filing an insurance claim," the sheriff said, and requested council approval to pay $519.47 from funds available under a commissary statute cited in the discussion. The council moved and approved the requested payment by voice vote (7-0).
All formal votes were recorded by voice and the council asked staff to document the transfers and ordinance changes in official records.
