Fulton County Council elects new leadership, approves committee appointments

Fulton County Council members elected Ron Dittman president and Pete Harris vice president and approved several committee and board appointments during their Jan. 6 meeting.
The council unanimously approved Dittman’s nomination for council president and Harris’s nomination for vice president by voice votes recorded as 7-0. "Thank you, folks. Look forward to another good year working with you," Ron Dittman said after the vote.
Council members then reviewed standing committee assignments and individual board seats. The council nominated and approved Chris Brown, identified in discussion as affiliated with Rochester Glass, for a vacancy on the Alcoholic Beverage board. The appointment was seconded and carried by a 7-0 voice vote.
Later in the meeting the council appointed Rick O'Neil as the county's representative to BECA after confirming his willingness to serve. That motion also passed by voice vote, 7-0.
Other routine confirmations covered courthouse security, community corrections advisory, EMS oversight and animal-control representation; members were asked whether they wished to continue their service and several confirmed they would.
The council concluded the item by confirming the approved assignments would be communicated to the appointees and recorded in county files.
The council adjourned other business items to later in the agenda and moved on to administrative and budget matters.
