Fulton County awards $1.28 million Community Crossings paving contract to Central Paving

Fulton County commissioners voted Dec. 15 to award a Community Crossings paving contract to Central Paving, the lowest bidder at $1,278,918.13 for three road segments, and approved related year-end transfers and claims.

Highway staff read multiple bids at the meeting, listing line-item prices for three roads. After review, staff recommended Central Paving as the lowest overall bidder. A commissioner said, “Central paving, of course, was the lowest bid. They came in at $1,278,918.13 for total.” The board voted to approve the contract and authorized staff to sign and scan the contract for execution.

The awards followed a broader approval of year-end financial housekeeping. Commissioners approved minutes for Dec. 1 and Dec. 8, several interdepartmental transfers to cover year-end deficits and a claims batch for December totaling approximately $1,142,107.13. A motion to approve claims was made and carried unanimously.

Highway staff also noted ongoing winter operations and reported an application for federal aid on Bridge 170 has been submitted, with decisions expected in February. Staff said there are no permit items pending and that they are continuing recruitment for an open highway position.

What happens next: staff will sign the Central Paving contract, provide scanned copies to commissioners and proceed with construction planning under the Community Crossings program.
