The Madras Planning Commission agreed Nov. 20 to cancel the Dec. 4 hearing on proposed code amendments and to renotice the hearing for a January date (staff suggested Jan. 15 as a possibility).
Staff told commissioners the packet had already noticed the Dec. 4 hearing, so cancelling and renoticing is the appropriate step; staff said they will post the cancellation and the new notice. “We will staff will post the December 4 planning commission meeting canceled. We will renotice it for a date in January,” staff said.
Commissioners also approved meeting minutes from Aug. 7 and Sept. 18 with minor spelling corrections to be made by staff. The panel discussed commissioner training and preferred in-person evening sessions in January covering public hearing roles, responsibilities, and traffic-impact analysis basics; staff said they will follow up with proposed dates and logistics.
Commissioners asked staff to propose two short training sessions (either consecutive evenings or a two-day option) and to circulate possible dates by email so members can respond. Staff indicated training time and location will be posted publicly and that food has been provided at similar past trainings.
Chair Melissa Irvin adjourned the meeting at 7:10 p.m.
