Skye Meaders described elements of the tentative agreement: salary adjustments that were included in the 2026 budget, restructuring of longevity pay into a one-time stipend for employees who have reached the salary maximum, a boot/equipment stipend (to avoid receipt-processing), a change to double-time for holidays going forward (not retroactive until the contract is signed), and a union-supported CDL training program (estimated at $4,000–$5,000) with a prorated repayment requirement if an employee leaves within three years.
Because a commissioner requested extra time to review the details, Speaker 3 moved to table consideration of the highway division contract for approximately one week to allow commissioners time to examine the provisions. The motion to table was seconded and carried by voice vote. The board instructed staff to return the contract for action on the stated follow-up date.
