Beautification Committee hands out Snowflake Awards, previews accessible Rose Garden project

The Mount Clemens Beautification Committee presented its 18th annual Snowflake Awards recognizing holiday decorating across seven city areas and previewed two upcoming landscaping efforts.
Committee members named one winner from each of seven areas and distributed a snow‑s catcher and photo recognition for participants. Junior Querio and Lisa Taylor highlighted year‑round maintenance at multiple garden sites, and announced a Rose Garden Memorial on southbound Gratiot near the Anton Arts Center, with plans to begin work when weather permits.
The committee also said it is partnering with Martha T. Berry to develop accessible, wheelchair‑height gardens to enhance outdoor spaces for residents with mobility challenges; a volunteer call and follow‑up information were provided through the Mount Clemens Beautification Facebook page.
Commissioners thanked the volunteers and encouraged residents to participate in future events, including a citywide cleanup scheduled for May 4.
