At the start of business, the board approved the superintendent's consent agenda (personnel report, donation report and facility-use requests) after a motion and second; a roll-call vote recorded "Yes" from Trustee Smith, Trustee Vasquez, Trustee Maleta, Trustee Finley and Trustee Wilkie. The board separately approved its own consent agenda with a similar roll-call.
The donation report listed $6,525 in gifts directed to extracurricular programs, including robotics, the dance team, girls cross country, the culinary pathway program, the diesel program and athletic training supplies; a speaker thanked community donors for that support.
Board members conducted a second reading and approved updated Neola policies, with discussion focusing on attendance definitions and truancy-prevention steps. District staff said the policy language aligns more clearly with state guidance and described existing procedures: automated notifications and mailed or emailed letters at 3-, 5-, 7- and 10-day intervals and a district attendance officer who coordinates building-level responses.
Under new business, administrators explained proposed one-year subscriptions and contract amounts: the Level Data PowerSchool plugin ($8,758.10); a $525 charge for PSCB customization; the Marsha Brenner adaptive scheduler (referred to as the MBA scheduler) for $12,134 from the operations fund; a 24/7 transportation bus-camera subscription for $900; and a bus-conduct management subscription for $1,592. Board members asked clarifying questions about the scheduler's alert functions and which staff see student alerts; administrators said alerts populate only for teachers who have the student assigned.
After discussion the board moved and approved the contracts; roll-call votes recorded the same five trustees voting "Yes."
