The Urbana City Council recorded several formal actions on Oct. 14, 2024:
- Consent agenda: The council approved (by roll call) a major variance for 809 West Pennsylvania Avenue (ZBA2024MAJ01) and authorized a package liquor license for Urbana, Inc. DVA (Black Fox convenient liquor, 602 North Cunningham Avenue).
- Resolution on open meetings for the alternative response task force: Council adopted a resolution directing the task force to conduct meetings consistent with the Illinois Open Meetings Act, to livestream meetings and to post recordings; staff said revised contract language and requested procedures had been conveyed to Barry Dunn.
- Lincoln Avenue road-diet demonstration (resolution 2024-09-063R): Approved (see separate article for details). Motion moved by Councilmember Charice and seconded by Councilmember James; roll-call vote recorded seven yes votes and the motion passed.
- Appointment: Charles Davidson was appointed to the Human Relations Commission for a term ending 06/30/2027; the motion to appoint passed by voice vote.
- Closed session: Council voted to go into closed session under ILCS 120/2(c)(11) to discuss pending litigation; members returned to open session and adjourned without further business.
These items were approved either by roll call or by unanimous voice vote as noted in the meeting record.
