Council reviews Box Elder County list showing many 'unidentified' voters; staff to circulate list for cleanup

Council members reviewed an electoral-roll report from Box Elder County on July 17 that, according to one member, listed roughly 140 entries attached to addresses that do not match known residents.
Speaker 5 said she had cross-checked some records, called property owners and found names that did not match the property address. She said the list included addresses that appear to be short-term rentals, nonresident owners, or otherwise mismatched names.
Councilors asked staff to circulate the county list to all council members so they could identify familiar names and help clean up the rolls. Staff also proposed mailing notices to the addresses on the list to ask residents to confirm their registration information. The council did not take formal enforcement action at the meeting but identified roster cleanup as a next step.
