Manaway council hears proposal for annual reservoir race, requests safety details

An organizer asked the Manaway Town Council on July 17 to permit an annual race that would use the reservoir loop, and said Brigham City asked Manaway to review the request before proceeding.
Council members raised logistics and safety concerns. Darla summarized those concerns and asked the organizer to confirm first-aid coverage and restroom access. Council members noted that Brigham City charges a $100 fee for exclusive use of parking and that race rules typically permit aid only at the official start and finish, which would limit on-course assistance.
The organizer said the event would likely not require closing the entire loop and expected some public use of the loop to continue during the race. Council members suggested the organizer provide at least two possible dates in May so Manaway could check for conflicts; they also recommended coordinating with Brigham City and Box Elder County for traffic-calming devices and other safety measures.
Darla told the organizer, "Tell him we didn't have major objections," but stressed the town wanted assurances about first aid and portable toilets at key points on the route. The organizer agreed to follow up with specific dates and logistics at a future meeting.
