Morrow County, Jan. 29, 2025 — County officials met on Jan. 29 and approved a slate of routine financial and administrative measures, adopted an updated personnel policy manual and heard a staff update that a formal jail grant agreement is expected in the coming weeks.
The board approved billings numbered 1 through A36 and several routine payments and appropriations, including county services payments for older citizens (February insurance), state payments tied to Grama City Airport and an EMA invoice from Chesterfield Village, and an appropriation to cover workers' compensation for the general fund. A transfer to the sheriff's fund (account 2914) to support dispatch also was approved. Motions were moved and seconded and confirmed by roll call.
Speaker 2 presented a rental lease agreement with the Department of Job and Family Services for 2025; that lease was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
The board adopted an updated Morrow County personnel policy manual effective immediately. Speaker 1 thanked staff for their work on the manual: "Appreciate the work Jamie and Sheryl put into that," Speaker 1 said.
On staffing, a county staff member (Speaker 4) said recruitment was progressing for a maintenance technician I and that the county hopes to present hiring recommendations next week. "We are hopeful to get another 1 or 2 maybe out this week," Speaker 4 said, noting one candidate named Shavina and the new maintenance supervisor, Kyle Wert.
Speaker 4 also reported a grants update: the county has spoken with the Bureau of Detention Rehabilitation Corrections and expects a formal jail grant agreement in a few weeks. "We'll soon be able to start submitting reimbursement on some of the already incurred costs to that project," Speaker 4 said, adding that the bureau was "excited about it."
