Burke County approves rezoning of roughly 54 acres to allow truck stop; platting required

Commissioner Martin moved to approve the rezoning of parcels 074-028A and 074-053 with the condition that the properties be combined and platted; Commissioner Lively seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Scott said the planning commission explicitly requested a plat to ensure the two tracts are treated as a single permitted site for the truck stop.
County staff and commissioners noted that the rezoning approval is limited to the map amendment; site-specific permits, platting, and permitting conditions (setbacks, drainage, access) must still be satisfied before construction. The board did not vote on any specific development plan or site improvements during the meeting and said the plat requirement is a precondition for permitting.
